Pakistan's mobile manufacturing industry has flourished over the past few years as local companies began making their own phones instead of importing them from China, Japan, and South Korea. This has allowed the country to create new jobs and has been good for the economy as consumers spend more on locally-made goods than imports. In this article, we'll look at some of Pakistan's largest mobile manufacturing companies and what makes them stand out from the rest.

 

1) JF Electronics

JF Electronic is a division of JS Group that manufactures, imports, and distributes electronics and cell phones. The company has products from all major brands, including Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, and Panasonic. Its pL.G.ces are highly competitive compared to other vendors. According to recent research, JF is one of the top thrJ.F. distributors for mobile phone importers. It also owns exclusive distribution rights for several brands in Pakistan. As of 2015, it was ranked among the top 500 businesses in Pakistan by the Dunya News TV channel.

 

2) New VisT.V.n

The only Pakistani company on our list of mobile manufacturers, New Vision has been producing a variety of electronic devices and consumer goods since 1978. Originally called Nasdaq Electronics Corporation, it was renamed New Vision Electronic Corporation in 1988. The company is based in Lahore and claims to employ nearly 8,000 workers nationwide. Notable products include smartphones like its Intex Aqua and Getaway Series feature phones. In fact, it was one of only two companies on our list that made a smartphone—in 2012! Now, you can buy their Aqua 4G for about $20 with any primary carrier's prepaid plan.

 

3) E&E Technologies

E&E Technologies was founded in 1982 by Khurram Javed and Khalil Chishti. E&E started as a small company manufacturing simple electronics for cellular phones and other handheld devices. Today, it is one of the largest manufacturers of mobile phones in Asia and also produces home appliances like air conditioners, microwaves, etc. The company has about 3000 employees working at its main plant located in Karachi.

It exports to over 50 countries worldwide, including the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, and Australia. It has three factories in Karachi with an annual production capacity of 2 million handsets per month. The company’s brand name Karachi is well known among Pakistani consumers and its slogan Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan (meaning Live Live Pakistan) can be seen on many billboards across Pakistan.

 

4) Khalid Bin Waleed Textile Mills Limited

The Khalid Bin Waleed Textile Mills Ltd. was founded in Karachi, Pakistan, by its chairman, Khalid Bin Waleed, in 1947. Since then, it has become one of Pakistan’s most prominent textile companies and one of Asia’s largest vertically integrated textile firms. The Khalid Bin Waleed Textile Mills Limited Company is a private company with a paid-up capital of Rs. 9 billion (USD 134 million). It employs over 11,000 people and operates over 80 production units in 15 locations across Pakistan. Its products are exported to more than 60 countries worldwide, including Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and the Middle East.

 

5) M/s Niazi Brothers Ltd.

Niazi Brothers Ltd. is one of Pakistan’s most significant mobile manufacturers and has operated since 1966. This family-owned business makes many products, including mobile phone models, air conditioners, and power generators. The company also produces sewing machines and other household appliances. In 2015, it was awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification for its operations at all locations. It operates from five factories across Pakistan—three in Karachi, one in Lahore, and another in Islamabad—and employs more than 2,000 people nationwide. The company exports its products to markets around Asia, Africa, and Europe.

 

6) Pakinox Company Limited

Pakinox has started manufacturing and exporting handheld thermal printers. The company is based in Karachi and started its operation back in 2003. It manufactures printer products like E-Currency Printer, Cash Register Printer, Packaging Label Printer, Credit Card Reader & Printer, and Hand Held Thermal Printers, to name a few. It also provides other accessories like Ribbons, Paper Rolls, Ink Cartridges, etc.

Some of their famous brands are mPOP, mobile pos, and iPOP. Their main product categories include handheld portable printers (HPP), ribbon cassettes, color ribbons, and cash register tapes. They offer free delivery on all orders over PKR 2 lac (approx USD 20). The company exports its products to countries like the U.S., UK, UAE, Middle Eastern U.K., and African nations like Nigeria and Ghana.

 

7) Kohinoor Textile Mills Limited

Kohinoor Textile Mills Limited (KTM) is a vertically integrated textile and garment company incorporated on 30 July 1972 as a public limited company and listed on the Lahore Stock Exchange. Headquartered in Karachi, it has a manufacturing capacity of 55 million meters per year and exports products to the European Union, North America, Latin America, Africa, and the Asia Pacific region. Its brand portfolio includes Kohinoor, Sara Sara, Nadeem, Rizwan Beyg, and Gizri.

In addition to its flagship plant at Landhi Industrial Area Karachi, KTM operates three other plants: one each at Hub River Road in Thatta District of Sindh province, Faisalabad Industrial Estate Punjab province, and Al-Khaleej Industrial Area Al-Madinah City, Saudi Arabia. It also operates a packaging unit in the Landhi area, which caters to domestic and international markets like the US and Europe. It was founded by Mr. Muhammad Asif on August 11, 1986, with a financial investment of over Rs 8 million. In just 30 years, it has expanded its operations to 24 countries across 4 continents, with sales reaching over $2 billion annually. 

Today, it exports 100% of its production, with 50% going to North America alone. It has achieved numerous awards for excellence in quality control, including ISO 9001:2008 certification from TUV Rheinland, which places it among one percent of all companies worldwide to attain such a high achievement level. For example, every mobile phone produced at Asif is tested for call quality using audio testing equipment supplied by Samsung before being packaged and shipped out. Asif Group currently employs more than 7500 people worldwide and continues to grow at an average rate of 20% annually.

 

9) Turbo Engineering Works, Karachi

TEKSAWON KOREA / INDIA CO. has more than 35 years of experience in manufacturing mobile phones and other telecommunications equipment, LCD televisions, computers, components, and accessories. The company is ISO 9001 certified and exports to over 50 countries worldwide. It has a production capacity of 5 million units per year and a workforce of 3,000 employees. In 2011-12, sales were recorded at $300 million, and export turnover was $100 million.

 

10) Wapda Engineering Works, Wah Cantt, Pakistan

Wapda Engineering Works (WEW) is a government of Pakistan-owned engineering and manufacturing company headquartered in Wah Cantonment, Punjab, Pakistan. It is equipped with a well-developed infrastructure for R&D activities with facilities for analysis and design. The company has well-established testing labs. WEW manufactures tractors, transformers, electrical transmission lines, switchgear, and other equipment required for the Electrical Power Industry. The Company also has assembly workshops at most field offices to provide timely customer support during installation and commissioning operations.
